Introduction

Nostr gives you control over your identity, content and social connections without tying them to one application. That freedom comes with a small amount of infrastructure: clients need relays for events and somewhere to store media.

Nodana now provides both through one simple service.

What is a Nostr relay?

A Nostr relay is a server that receives, stores and distributes signed Nostr events. These events include:

• Notes and replies

• Profile information

• Reactions

• Follow lists

• Other data published by Nostr applications

Your identity does not belong to the relay. Every event is signed with your Nostr key, allowing clients and other relays to verify who created it.

Most Nostr clients connect to several relays. When you publish a note, the client can send it to multiple relays, helping it reach more people. Readers do not necessarily need exactly the same relay as you, but having reliable shared relays improves the availability and distribution of your content.

Nodana provides a shared relay at:

Reading is public. Writing requires a pubkey registered with Nodana and a correctly signed Nostr event.

What is a Blossom server?

Nostr events are excellent for small pieces of signed data, but they are not designed to contain large images, videos or audio files.

Blossom is a media-storage protocol designed for Nostr. A compatible client uploads a file to a Blossom server and receives a public URL. That URL can then be included in a signed Nostr note.

Nodana’s Blossom server is available at:

Media is addressed by its cryptographic hash. This makes it possible to verify that a downloaded file is the same file that was originally uploaded.

Other users do not need to configure Nodana’s Blossom server to view your media. Their client can load the public URL contained in your note.

Why use Nodana?

You can operate your own relay and Blossom server, but doing so means maintaining servers, storage, TLS certificates, databases, backups and software updates.

Nodana handles that infrastructure for you.

With one registered Nostr pubkey, you receive access to:

• A hosted shared Nostr relay

• A hosted Blossom media server

• Public relay and media reads

• Signed write authentication

• Managed storage and deployment

• One straightforward Free or Plus package

Nodana never needs your private key. Your client signs relay events and Blossom authorization requests locally. The server verifies those signatures before accepting a write.

Start for free

The Free plan is intended to provide everything needed to try the service and use it as part of a normal Nostr setup.

It includes:

• 10 notes per day

• Image uploads

• 500 MB of total Blossom storage

• Files up to 20 MiB

• Shared relay write access

• Public media URLs

There is no subscription fee for the Free plan. Register your public key in your Nodana account and add the relay and Blossom URLs to a compatible Nostr client.

Upgrade to Nodana Plus

Nodana Plus is designed for more active users and anyone publishing larger media.

For $49 per year, Plus includes:

• Unlimited notes

• Image, video and audio uploads

• 25 GB of total Blossom storage

• Files up to 250 MiB

• Shared relay write access

• A 30-day grace period after the subscription expires

Plus combines the relay and Blossom server into one annual package. There are no personal subdomains or separate service subscriptions to manage.

What happens when Plus expires?

If a Plus subscription expires, there is a 30-day grace period.

After that period, the account returns to the Free allowance. Nodana retains the newest media that fits within the Free storage limit, while older files outside that allowance may be removed.

Renewing during the grace period restores Plus access without immediately reducing stored media.

Getting started

To use Nodana’s hosted Nostr services:

1. Sign in to your Nodana account.

2. Open the General account page.

3. Enter and save your Nostr public key.

4. Add wss://relay.nodana.app to your client’s relay list.

5. Add https://blossom.nodana.app as your Blossom server.

6. Start with the Free plan or select Plus to upgrade.

Your client continues to control your keys and sign everything locally. Nodana simply provides the infrastructure that receives your events and stores your media.

Nostr gives you a portable identity. Nodana gives that identity a reliable place to publish.
